The Ever Loving Caucasian Ovcharka Dogs

The Caucasian Ovcharka Dogs have big, strong muscular bodies that are covered with thick coats. Their coats can have short or long hair. The colors of these dogs comes in different shades of colors like: red, yellow, white, tiger - striped, rusty and white colors. They possess big wedge shaped heads. Their muzzles can be rectangular or circular in form. These dogs have bushy and the ears are set rather high. The eyes of these dogs are oval shaped. Caucasian Ovcharka dogs have tails that lie low or curls up a bit.

The Caucasian Ovcharka Dogs are really strong minded. Their owners must also be strong - willed. They must be trained and well socialized. As long as owners give them positive training, they will respond consistently. Dogs of these kind are intelligent. Their work ethics are excellent. Owners who work in their garages and lawns can give these dogs work to do. They will respond well and will do their jobs with the best of their abilities.

The Caucasian Ovcharka Dogs will live for as long as twelve years. They do not have much health problems. Some of these dogs can acquire hip dysplasia and heart conditions. These dogs need to be brushed constantly. When brushing these dogs. owners must give special attention to tangles in their coat's hair. Though, these dogs may be friendly and very warm, they can be very suspicious of people they do not know. They have a very intimidating presence because of their huge size. This is what makes them very good watchdogs. They love to be with their family. Owners must act as their pack leaders. These dogs will do well with families who have older children

Male dogs will weigh as much as 130 - 195 pounds. They will have heights of 25 - 33 inches.
Female dogs will weigh as much as  85 - 140 pounds. They will have heights of 24 - 29 inches.

The Caucasian Ovcharka Dogs originated from the Caucassus Mountains, near the Black Sea and Caspian Sea. These dogs can be found in the countries of Russia, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. They are known to be the oldest surviving breed of Molossers. They were then well known as guard dogs who prevented thieves from entering the properties of their owners. The Caucasian Ovchaka Dogs can be used as police dogs
