The Sweet Tempered Clumber Spaaniels

Clumber Spaniels do not have a a well documented history. Some say that their ancestors are the Basset Hound, Saint Bernard and Alpine Spaniels. It is not sure whether they originated in France in the 18th century. The Duke of Noailles had a small number of these dogs. He transferred his dogs to England so that they could be taken cared by his family. This is because there was a threat of revolution in France. The Duke of Newcastle was his relative. It was here that these dogs were fully developed. These dogs were first shown in a show during the nineteenth century. These dogs were favorites of British monarchs.The name clumber comes from the name of the estate of the Duke of Newcatle known as Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, England. It's a slow and silent dog. Clumber Spaniels can work alone or in packs. These dogs have lots of stamina. These dogs were used to hunt down partridge and pheasants. Chamber Spaniels are also good retrievers.Clumber Spaniels were given their due recognition by the the American Kennel Club in 1884.

Clumber Spaniels do have heavy bone structures. They have melting heads that are bulky.These dogs have short legs. This is the reason why their bodies are close to the ground. They have large muzzles that are deep but will well defined stops with heavy brows. Their noses are broad with color shades of brown, cherry, rose or beige. These dogs have extensive chests that are rather deep. The front legs of these dogs are straight.Their teeth are joined together in level bites. Clumber Spaniels have deep setting eyes that are dark amber in color. The lateral parts of their lips are seen hanging over their lower jaws. These dogs have hanging ears that are vine leaf like in shape. They have thick necks that are heavy. These dogs have throats that are well feathered. Clumber Spaniels have feathered tails that are docked or left alone in it's natural state. Their coats are soft, flat, thick and straight. They have white coats, with markings of lemon or orange. Go out with them for their daily walks

Clumber Spaniels are mild manner, very calm, loyal and loving dogs. These dogs are weary of strangers.. Among the hunting breeds, these dogs are even tempered. Matured Clumber Spaniels are not so active when they are matured. Owners must be their pack leaders. Train and socialize these dogs at their early ages. This way they will know what they can and cannot do. Clumber Spaniels will be well behaved when they are taught what to do. These dogs are not known for their barking capabilities. Their memories are exceptional and they would like to please their owners.. Give them chew toys and they will love it. These dogs need a lot of exercise. Owners can play fetch the ball with them. When walking with them, these dogs must heel at your sides or at your backs. Doing it this way, will remind your dogs that owners are their pack leaders.

Clumber Spaniels will reach heights of 16 – 20 inches and will weigh 55 – 85 pounds.

Clumber Spaniels can acquire diseases such as hip dysplasia, entropion, cataracts, panosteitis ( juvenile lameness )and dry eyes. They could have skin and flea allergies.

Clumber Spaniels will do alright living in apartments as long as they are given their proper exercises daily. These dogs are not active indoors. They need to roam around in small yards that are properly fenced.

Clumber Spaniels will live for about 10 -12 years.

Clumber Spaniels must have their coats brushed and combed regularly. Their coats must also be trimmed when needed. Clean their eyes and ears. Check on their eyes and ears regularly. They can develop irritations on their ears. There are lotions that you can buy and it will bring relief to them. These dogs are known to shed heavily

The Magnificent and Beautiful Flat Coat Retrievers

Flat Coat Retrievers were developed in the 1800's in the United Kingdom. Their development began by crossbreeding Newfoundland and St. Johns Waters Dogs that were brought to Britain by Canadian Seafarers. These dogs wre crossed with collies so that their working strength would increase and also with Irish Setters so that their scenting abilities would intensify. Flat Coat Retrievers were great show dogs and sporting dogs until the beginning of world war 1. These dogs were used by fishermen and hunters. They were excellent dogs because they could swim and they had remarkable sense of smell. Flat Coat Retrievers were very useful in retrieving birds. They could retrieve birds in plains and in areas that were thick with trees and bushes. These dogs were given recognition by the American Kennel Club in 1915.

Flat Coat Retrievers are truly beautiful and magnificent dogs . They are medium to large sized dogs. These dogs are known have sturdy but soft jaws. They have lengthy muzzles and this allows these dogs to carry birds and other small game animals in field competitions. Their muzzles have moderate stops.These dogs have black noses on black dogs and brown noses on liver colored dogs. Their eyes are almond shaped eyes. The colors of their eyes are dark or brown. The teeth of these dogs meet in even like bites. The triangular shaped ears are well feathered, small and close to their heads.These dogs have deep chests and are wide. The backs of these dogs are short and are square. They have strong feet that are well rounded. Their coats are medium in length, thick. Flat Coat Retrievers have smooth coats that lies flat on their bodies. The colors are either solid black or liver. They have fully feathered leg, chests and tails.

Flat Coat Retrievers are beautiful and superb dogs for children. These dogs make good family pets. Tthey like to please their owners and they are even tempered. Flat Coat Retrievers are loving and affectionate dog. These dogs are so friendly and they fo like everyone including strangers. Flat Coat Retrievers are known to get they love to play around.. Throw balls and they will retrieve it. They are inactive indoors but are really active outdoors. These dogs are very intelligent but faithful companions They are very sociable dogs but they need thir owners to show strong leadersship. Socialize and train these dogs at their early stages. Flat Coat Retrievers can have good relationships. with other dogs and pets..Give these dogs daily walks because these dogs have migration instincts. Make sure that these dogs heel at your sides or at your backs. This is one way to show them that ntheir owners are their true leader.

Flat Coat Retrievers will reach heights of 22 – 23 inches and they will weigh at least 60 – 70 pounds.

Flat Coat Retrievers are susceptible to cancer, PRA ( Progressive Retinal Atrophy ), CHD ( Congenital Heart Disease ), epilepsy and diabetes.

Flat Coat Retrievers will live for 10 years.

Flat Coat Retrievers are not recommended for apartment living. The reason is that they are inactive indoors. They need homes with averaged sized yards. They need to be alongside their families. They will be at their best if they live inside their family homes. They must be given time to play outside.

Flat Coat Retrievers only need to have be brushed weekly. They need a bit of trimming. These dogs are medium shedders. Gives these dogs a bath only when it is necessary.

The Cheerful Little Lion Dogs Called Lowchens

 Lowchens are dogs that originated in Europe and most probably, these dogs are from Germany. The name in German means little lion dogs. These dogs were groomed to look like little lion dogs. They were used in the early times to warm the feet of women with their exposed skin. Lowchens were well known in Germany, France, Italy and Spain in the 1500's. This popularity continued till the 1800's. Their numbers lessened after the two world wars.. The number of these dogs have started to increase but it is still quite rare. These dogs have been recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1996.

Lowchens have the look of lions since most of their coats are cut to make it look like lions. These small dogs have short heads and wide skulls. The muzzles of thes dogs are the same or a bit shorter than their back skulls. Their eyes are rounded and the colors of their eyes are mostly black. .Lowchens have pendant shaped ears with a bit of feathers. Their ears are medium in length. Lowchens have long coats. They have well proportioned short bodies. The tails of these dogs are moderate in length but their tails are set rather high. The most common colors of these dogs are black, white and lemon. The coats in their back and front legs are clipped and so are the coats on their tails hat are near their bodies. If their coats are not clipped, it stays lon, and thick. Their coats are reasonably soft.

Lowchens are delightful dogs. They have cheerful attitudes and this could have started since the time that they were allowed to sleep in the beds of ladies centuries ago.. They were used like hot bottles that warmed the feet of these ladies. They were petted and fussed over by their female owners. Lowchens are tender loving dogs. These dogs are sociable and smart. Train these dogs at their early ages and they do learn easily. By training and socializing these dogs, they will become appropriate dogs for any family. Lowchens love to play and are excellent dogs for children. Although, they can look fragile because of their lion cut coats, this is not true. Lowchens are sturdy and tough dogs. These dogs are unyielding and arrogant. These can be corrected easily by proper training.Owners must show that they are the pack leaders. They must be firm, but they must be rather calm when dealing with these dogs. Display proper leadership towards these dogs and they will be easy to handle. They do bark a lot especially if they see unknown people approaching their owner's home. They tend to do dig a lot of times. Lowchens must be given daily walks. Make sure that they heel by your sides and at your backs. This will show them that owners are their leaders.

Lowchens will have heights of 10 – 13 inches and they will weigh at least 9 – 18 pounds.

Lowchens are healthy dogs but they can develop bad teeth and they can dislocate their kneecaps.

Lowchens can live in apartments because they are rather active indoors. They will do alright without yards. It would be nice for owners to let them roam around properly fenced yards.

Lowchens have a life expectancy of 12 – 14 years.
Lowchens must have their coats brushed and and combed on a regular basis. There are some owners who like to give these dogs a puppy clip. They would rather do this then clip the parts of their coats that will give them that lion look. These dogs shed little hair or no hair at all. Brush out their dead hair. Give them a bath only when it becomes necessary.

The Easy Going Eurasiers

Eurasiers were created by Julius Wipfel in 1960. He was a German breeder. He wanted to make a wolf like spitz dog with a good temperament. He wanted these dogs to be friendly These dogs were developed by crossing the wolf spitz. and the chow chow. It was first named the wolf chow. Itgot it's new name Eurasiers when th the breed was crossed with Samoyeds. His main goal was to make these dogs look beautiful and become ideal family dogs

Eurasiers have Spitz type frames that are enveloped with thick medium length coats that can come in colors such as red to wolf grey, black, black and tan. The head of these dogs are wedge shaped and their muzzles are tapered. Eurasiers have dark eyes and their triangular ears are in a standing position. They have strong muscular necks can have some chest manes. It's feather liked tails can be carried over their backs or it could be hanging. Eurasiers have thick undercoats. Eurasiers have medium to long lying loose lying guard hair all throughout their bodies. They do have short coats on their muzzles, faces, ears and front legs. Their tails and the back of their front legs plus their hind legs must be covered with long hair. Eurasiers must have tongues that are colored pink, blue,black or spotted.

Eurasiers are one of the best companion dogs that families can have. These dogs are cool, friendly, quiet and evenly tempered. They are loving affectionate and loyal dogs. When it comes to strangers, they are reserved and shy. Socialize them and train these dogs at their early ages.They must know what they can and cannot do. When training these dogs, owners must do it in a calm manner. They will form a strong bonding relationship with their families. Eurasiers are smart and they learn very fast. These are playful dogs and they are excellent dogs for children. Owners must show that they are the pack leaders. Eurasiers are not good guard dogs but they will excel as watch dogs. Owners must take these dogs out for long daily walks. Make sure that they heel on your sides or at your backs. Doing this will show them that their owners are their leaders. These dogs rarely bark.

Eurasier males will reach heights of 20 – 24 inches and they will weigh as much as 50 – 70 pounds. Eurasier females will have heights of 16 – 18 inches and will weigh 40 – 60 pounds.

Eurasiers have few genetic health issues. It is good to test these dogs for sicknesses like hip dysplasia and hypothyroidism.

Euraiers will do well living in apartments but they need to have plenty of exercises. They also need to have a lot of family time. Do not leave these dogs alone or keep them confined in small places.

Eurasiers will live for at least 11 – 13 years.

Eurasiers need to be regularly brushed and groomed especially during fall and spring shedding seasons. Give them a bath only when it is necessary.

The Affectionate Norwich Terriers

Norwich Terriers were created in East Anglia, England.; The Norfolk Terriers and the Norwich Terriers were known to be the same breed but they did have different types of ears. They were both known as Norwich Terriers. The English acknowledged them as two separate breeds in 1964. In 1979, The American Kennel Club also recognized them as two separate breeds. The Norwich Terriers had perked up ears and the Norfolk Terriers had dropping kind of ears. Norfolk Terriers were shaped in an angular manner, while Norwich Terriers were more rounded in shape.. Norwich Terriers were primarily used as barnyard ratters. They were also known to hunt down foxes that had gone underneath the ground . Norwich Terriers are small in size and this allowed them to get in and out of foxes dens without any trouble. When the foxes were removed from their dens, the hunters who were riding on their horses would chase them using their hounds.

Norwich Terriers are short strong and small dogs. They heads that are a bit rounded and broad. They have a sizeable amount of space between the ears. These dogs have nuzzles that shaped like wedges with definite stops. Norwich Terriers have oval shaped eyes that are colored dark. Their medium sized ears are seen to be standing straight. These dogs have straight legs and they have rounded feet. Their toenails are colored black. Norwich Terriers have medium sized tails that are set high, evenly leveled with their toplines. Their tails are docked in a half manner. These dogs have wiry straight coats that are about one and one half to two inches in length. Their coat colors are red, wheaten, black and tan. They also have grizzled colors. They sometimes have white markings.

Norwich Terriers are one of the smallest working terriers. Norwich Terriers have impressive personalities. They are hardy, courageous, cheerful, active, agrreeable, affectionate, self confident, faithful and easy to teach, They do not show any kind of aggression or nervousness. Owners must train them while they are young and they must be socialized with their families at their early ages. Because these dogs have these ratting instincts, they would love to play tossing games. Toss them balls, sticks or bones and they will chase them. These dogs are very good with children. They love adventure and excitement. Norwich Terriers love to entertain and delight everyone in it's pack. Do not leave these dogs alone without anything to do. They need to go out for long walks with their owners. Doing these will help them release their packed in energy. Make sure that they heel by your sides or at your backs. Doing this will remind them that their owners are their pack leaders.

Norwich Terriers will reach heights of 10 to 12 inches and they must weigh at least 10 – 12 pounds.

Norwich Terriers are prone to back problems, genetic eye diseases, minor heart abnormalities and breathing problems.
Otherwise, these dogs are generally healthy.

Norwich Terriers will do alright living in apartments. This is as long as they get the exercises they need. These dogs are fairly active indoors.. They will be fine even without a yard.

Norwich Terriers have rough, medium – length, water proof coats that can be easily cared for. Owners need to comb and brush their coats daily. A bit of clipping is a must. Be extra careful when these dogs are shedding. Give them baths only when it becomes a necessity. These dogs are known to be light shedders.

The Spunky Pembroke Welsh Corgis

Pembroke Welsh Corgis are related to the Cardigan Welsh Corgis . The ancestors of these dogs are the Keeshonds, Pomeranians, Schipperkes and the Swedish Vallhunds. There are different opinions of these dogs because some say that the Cardigan Welsh Corgis were from Cardiganshire and they were brought there by the Celts in 1200 B.C. The Pembroke Welsh Corgis were introduced to the Celts. They were considered as one breed. In the year 1934, during a dog show one of the judges saw the differences of these two kinds of dogs. Because of this they were separated , forming two different kinds of dog breeds. The Pembroke Welsh Corgis became so famous The American Kennel Club has recognized the Pembroke Welsh Corgis as a breed in 1934. These dogs were known to hunt weasels, coyotes and other small insects. Pembroke Welsh Corgis were useful in rounding up cattle and they were used as farm guards. They would bark and bark to do their jobs. Because thees dogs are small.. They could easily avoid being kicked by cows.

Pembroke Welsh Corgis have long bodies while their legs are short. This makes these dogs nearer to ground level. Their backs are not long. These dogs have broad skulls that become flat amidst their ears. They have stops that are reasonable. Their eyes are rounded in shape and they do have shades of brown colors but it also depends on the colors of their coats. These dogs have ears that stand straight and moderately sized. It becomes thinner, making the end points round shaped. Their feet are egg shaped. Some of these dogs are born without tails. Others have tails that are docked and short tails. These dogs have double coats that are thick, short and their undercoats can stand any kind of weather.. Some of these Pembroke Welsh Corgis are born with longer and rough outer coats. Their colors are red, black, light yellowish brown and tan. They have white spots on their legs, chests, necks and on some areas of their muzzles.

Pembroke Welsh Corgis are smart, faithful and skillful dogs. These dogs will always want to satisfy their owners. They are spunky, active and quite good with children. They must have the feeling that humans are their pack leaders. These are strong dogs and they will protect their families. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are good guard dogs. They will do good as show dogs and in obedience competitions. Give these dogs all their proper training and socialize them with your families while they are young.They are skeptical with strangers. Their owners must be their pack leaders . They must be firm and yet calm. Owners must have an affectionate feeling for these dog. These dogs must be trained not to herd people. If these dogs keep on barking at their owners, they are showing a form of aggressiveness. These behaviors must be dealt with. Show these dogs that these actions are not permissible. These dogs must be taken out on long daily walks. They must heel on your sides and at your backs. By doing this, owners are showing them that they are their pack leaders.. Pembroke Welsh Corgis will need to do exercises also.

Male Pembroke Welsh Corgis will reach heights of 10 – 12 inches and will weigh at least 25 – 30 pounds. Female Welsh Corgi will have heights of 10 – 12 inches and will weigh 24 – 28 pounds.

Pembroke Welsh Corgis can acquire health issues such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy, glaucoma and back problems. Do not overfeed these dogs because they can increase their weigh easily.

Pembroke Welsh Corgis will do alright living in apartments. Do not forget tog take them on long daily walks and give them their daily exercises.

Pembroke Welsh Corgis will live for 12 – 15 years.

Pembroke Welsh Corgis can be easily groomed. Comb and brush their coats with firm bristle brushes. . These dogs will shed two times a year.

The Self Confident Shiba Inus

Shiba Inus are one of the oldest dog breeds in Japan. These dogs have existed since the 4th century B.C.  The name means “ little bush dog.” and they are well known as small hunting dogs. These dogs were specifically bred to hunt bears, boars and to flush out birds. These dogs nearly became obsolete after world war 2. After the war several breeders worked hard to bring back these dogs into existence. Shiba Inus are one of the famous dogs in Japan today. In other places like the United States of America, their numbers have increased. The word “Inu" means dog.

Shiba Inus are small but firmly packed dogs. The heads of these dogs are commensurate to the size of their bodies They have rounded muzzles. These dogs have medium stops that becomes thinner upon reaching their nose. Their closely fixed lips and noses are color black. The teeth of these dogs are joined together in scissor like bites. Shiba Inus have ears are triangular shaped but are standing straight. They have small ears that are not in proportion to their bodies. The tails of these dogs are highly set and are thick at the ends. Their tails are curled and it is carried over their backs. Their tails are shaped like rings or sickles. Shiba Inus have deep setting eyes that appear like triangles and dark in color. The rims of their eyes are colored black. Shiba Inus have double coats.  Their undercoats are thick but their outer coats are unbending. Shiba Inus have coat colors that are red, red and a bit of black, black with tan spots. It's colors can also be yellow, white, blue or purple. These are what we call “ sesame “ colors. The sesame colors can come with red spots. Their under colors can be cream, buff or gray. These spots must be seen on their cheeks, on th sides of their muzzles, throats, undersides and chests. Shiba Inus can have white markings on their legs, ends of their tails and above their tails.

Shiba Inus are fully aware and attentive.These dogs are brave and never fearful. They are  affectionate and polite. Shiba Inus are clean dogs and they try to avoid puddles of mud. They are easy to train. These dogs do bark a bit and they do easily bond with their owners. If you want dogs that are good for kids, then, Shiba Inus will fit your needs. Give them obedience training and socialize them at their early ages with your families. Doing this and they will be good family dogs. Since, these are hunting dogs,  they must be given daily exercises and they must go out for long daily walks. Make sure that they heel on your sides or at your backs. These dogs are agile, quick and lively dogs. These dogs will get along with other dogs and even cats. They will not mix well with small pets like: rabbits, little birds, rodents and guinea pigs. This is because these dogs have hunting instincts. These dogs must be properly leashed when they are taken out for walks because they can chase smaller animals. Owners must be firm but calm with these dogs. They need to know that their owners are their pack leaders.

Male Shiba Inus will have heights of 14 – 16 inches and they will weigh as much as 18 – 25 pounds. Females will reach heights of 13 – 15 inches and will weigh around 15 – 20 pounds.

Shiba Inus usually have health issues that are common lik:e hip dysplasia. progressive retinal atrophy and patellar louxation.
Shiba Inus will do alright living in apartments as long as they get the exercises they need. They are moderately active indoors. They must be allowed to roam around in medium sized yards that are properly fenced. Their coats are waterproof and it protects them from cold and hot weathers. These dogs like to live with their families. It is best for these dogs to live indoors.

Shiba Inus will live for about 12 – 15 years.

Shiba Inus have clean and unrefined short haired coats that can be easily groomed. Use firm bristles to brush and take out dead hair. Give them a bath only when it is necessary. Excessive baths can remove their natural waterproof coats. These dogs are heavy shedders.

The Obedient Gordon Setters

Gordon Setters were created in Scotland inn the early 1700's. These dogs became famous in the early 1900's because they were well established by Alexander Gordon the 4th Duke of Gordon. He had a kennel of Black and Tan Setters. Because these dogs had a great sense of smell, these dogs could point to the birds that have been shot down and retrieve them.. These dogs were energetic and they can do their hunting even during the cold season. Even if the weather was bad, they could still hunt on land and on water. These dogs were used to develop the Irish Setters. They make good one person hunting dogs. They are in the group of gun and sporting dogs.

Gordon Setters are slim dogs but they are built to be strong. They have deep setting heads and their muzzles are long. Their muzzles must have the same measurements as their skulls. These dogs have well defined stops. Their noses are black and wide. The teeth of these dogs are joined together in level bites. Their long ears are set low. It's almost as the same level of their eyes and it can be seen hanging closely to their heads. Gordon Setters have round eyes They have short tails but they are not docked.. Their short tails do not reach their joints that are located on their hind legs. These dogs have hair on their ears, under their stomach, chests, backsides of their legs and on their tails. The hair on these parts are much longer than the hair located in the other parts of their bodies. These dogs have gleaming coats that are a bit wavy. The feathers on the undersides of their tails starts long at their base but it becomes shorter as it goes down to the ends. It gives it a triangle type of appearance.. These are the only setter dogs that have black and tan markings. These tan spots are either mahogany or full chestnut colors . These markings do appear over their eyes, on the sides of their muzzles, throats, two spots on their chests, legs and at the anal portion of these dogs. At times, they could have small white spots on their chests.

Gordon Setters are known for their faithfulness and obedience. These dogs are well mannered, loving and with a good temper. Gordon Setters are dedicated dogs and owners will surely love their company. They will do well with children. Gordon Setters are courageous, cheerful and tender loving dogs. They are very smart dogs and are skillful hunters. Their sense of smell are very good and almost faultless. They need to go on long walks and they do need to exercise a lot. If they do not do their daily activities, they can be destructive. Make sure that when you walk these dogs, they must heel on your sides or at your backs. This way, they will know that their owners are their pack leaders. These dogs must be trained and socialized with the families of owners at their young ages. They are a bit skeptical when it comes to strangers.

Male Gordon Setters will reach heights of 24 – 27 inches and will wigh 55 – 70 pounds. Female Gordon Setters grow as tall as 23 – 26 inches and will weigh as much as 45 – 70 pounds.

Gordon Setters cannot live in apartments. They will not be active indoors. These dogs need homes that
have big yards that are properly fenced. This must be done so that these dogs cannot escape.

Gordon Setters are expected to live for 10 – 12 year.

Gordon Setters can acquire health issues such as: hip dysplasia, bloat, eye diseases like Progressive Retinal Atrophy ( PRA ) and cataracts.They should be fed three small meals a day.

Gordon Setters have medium, flat and soft coats that must be brushed consistently. Since these are hunting dogs, owners must check them out for burrs. This may be any tiny pieces of wood or other things that might have gotten stuck up on their coats. Give special attention to these dogs when they are shedding.. Give them baths only when it becomes necessary. Trim the hair on the bottom of their feet and their nails must be clipped. These dogs are medium shedders.

The Loyal and Athletic German Shorthaired Pointers

German Shorthaired Pointers were created in Germany in the 1600's. It'as an all around dog That has a good nose for smelling.. These dogs could point, track and retrieve The German Shorthaired Pointers is the result of breeding different types of German hunting, scent hounds, trail and track dogs. These include the Old Spanish Pointer, German Bird Dog, Hounds of St. Hubert and the Foxhounds. Later on, the English Pointer was crossed in to add speed and endurance into theses dogs. The German Hunters at that time also wanted these dogs to become friendly family dogs.

German Shorthaired Pointers are dexterous dogs. They have heads that are proportionate to their bodies. Their skulls are a bit round on the top, wide and arched on the sides. Their muzzles are have the same measurements to that of their skulls. They have long muzzles that have a slight stop. It can be seen from the sides. They have large noses that are color brown and their nostrils are wide open.. Their eyes are almond shaped, medium – sized  and are colored  dark brown. These dogs have high set ears that are wide and hanging close to their heads. Their tails are docked to about 40% of it's length. They have webbed like feet that are compressed. Their skin id tight. Their coats are short, densed and rough. It is slightly longer on the undersides of their tails and at the back edges.of their hips.It is softer, thinner and shorter on their heads and ears. Their coats colors are firm dark reddish brown, reddish brown and white, reddish brown patches or chestnut color sprinkled with a bit of white color.

German Shorthared Pointers do pack a lot of energy. It's instincts are that of a hunting dog. These are good family dogs who love activities. These dogs are smart, enthusiastic and they like to entertain the family. You can play games with them like catching frisbees. Let them go for long walks with their owners. Owners must make sure that these dogs walk by their sides or at their backs..These dogs must be properly trained and socialized at their early ages. Obedience training is so necessary, because these are hunting dogs. They must be taught what they can and cannot do. These dogs are friendly and they are good dogs to have especially if owners have children. These dogs are protective of their owners. Their owners must be their pack leaders. Owners must be relaxed, confident but firm with house rules. These are dogs that bark and they are quite restrained with strangers.

German Male Shorthaired Pointers will reach heights of 23 – 25 inches and will weigh 55 – 70 pounds. Female Shorthaired Pointers will have heights of 21 – 23 inches and will weigh 45 – 60 pounds.

German Shorthaired Pointers can acquire health issues such as hip dysplasia, epilepsy, hemaphrodism and lymphedema. They are also prone mast cell tumors.

German Shorthaired Pointers are not meant to live in apartments. They will do good living in homes that have large yards that are properly fenced. The fences of these yards must be at least six feet tall. Having fences with these heights will prevent these dogs from going over any fence.

German Shorthaired Pointers will live for at least 12 – 15 years.

German Shorthaired Pointers have fine looking coats that are quite easy to groom. Always brush their coats consistently with bristle brushes. Give them baths only when needed. Use a towelette to keep their coats shiny. Their feet must be checked. It should be done after they are finished walking or doing their daily activities. Dry up these dogs immediately after they finish doing their hunting activities. This will prevent chilling. Regularly take a look at their ears. These dogs are medium shedders.

The Friendly Pugs

 Pugs are one of the oldest breeds of dogs in existence today.Pugs have been around since 400 BC. There are few facts regarding these dogs, There is a strong belief that these dogs originated from China. They have been seen in many artworks of Chinese origin. These dogs were famous with  Chinese nobility. The breed that we have today are of English origin. The first batch of pugs arrived in England in the 16th century.They were first called the Dutch Mastiffs but actually they do not have anything to do with this breed. The Whilloughby family of England were the ones who developed this strain of pugs. These dogs we see now have the same physical shape and behavioral patterns as the dogs that existed in the 1800's. The only difference are the cropped ears.

Pugs have square shaped bodies that are stout. Their muscles are well defined and they are deep chested. Pugs have short muzzles that are dull. They have strong legs, that are straight and are proportionate to their bodies. These dogs have large heads and vast wrinkles. Pugs have rounded eyes that are very dark in color. You 'll just admire these dogs by just looking at their captivating eyes. Their mask that are near their muzzle areas are dark black.Their ears are small and they come in two different shapes known as the rose and button. The button shaped ears are folded and this is what it's real shape should be. The rose shaped ears are also acceptable. Their tails must be tightly curled. It should be up and over the hip and it must lean towards one side. These dogs must have fine coats that are silky and smooth. The color of their coats are silver, apricot - fawn or black. For silver and apricot fawn color dogs, their muzzle, ears and trace line which starts from their heads goes all the way to their backs should be quite dark.

Pugs have temperaments that are well liked. These dogs are friendly and very outgoing. They love to be surrounded by children. Despite their looks, they are tough a tough breed. They like to play with adults and even with children. These dogs have strong minds and they are determined when they have had too much of everything. These dogs must have firm pack leaders. These dogs need to be properly socialized with their their young age..Give them obedience training at an early age. This way they will know what they can and cannot do. They must have their daily exercises and these dogs must go for long walks with their owners. Just be sure that they will walk by the side or at the back of their pack leaders.They love being a part of the family and they enjoy the company of people.

Pugs have common heath problems such as: spondylosis, dislocation of kneecaps, deratitis, demodex and pug encephalitis.

Pugs have a lifespan of 12 – 14 years.

Pugs will reach heights of 12 – 14 inches.. Pugs will weigh at least 14 – 18 pounds.

Pugs can live in apartments. They are not active indoors. These dogs  need to roam around in properly fenced yards. These dogs cannot withstand hot or cold weathers. It is just but proper for these dogs to be kept inside their owners homes.

Pugs have smooth and short haired coats that can be easily groomed. Brush their coats with a firm bristle brush. Use shampoo on these dogs only when necessary. Immediately dry these dogs with a clean towelette so that these dogs will not chill. Clean their faces regularly so that the creases on their face can be removed. Pugs are heavy shedders and they shed seasonally.

The Highly Spirited Japanese Spitz

The exact origin of the Japanese Spitz is not known. Some say, they can be descendants of Siberian Samoyeds. is questionable. There are those who believe that the Samoyeds were created to breed small dogs.They even say that these resulted in to what we call the Japanese Spitz. If you look at the the appearance of the Japanese Spitz, you'll think that these dogs are a smaller version of the Samoyeds. These dogs were developed in the 1800's. The Japanese Spitz dogs became famous in Japan in the 1950's. Their numbers in their homeland decreased. These dogs became well known in North America, Australia and Europe.

Japanese Spitz dogs have long haired coats. Their undercoats are thick and have a pure white color. Their tails are enclosed with long hair and it goes curling over their backs.They have short coats at the bottom parts of their legs. It covers their hind legs and the feathers of their forelegs. These dogs have small ears that stand erect. Their muzzles starts to thin out about. These dogs have rounded eyes that are dark and a bit slanted. Japanese Spitz have noses and lips that are colored black. These dogs have faces that are formed like wedges. Their feathers are quite thick  on their feet.

The Japanese Spitz are known to be highly spirited, intelligent and playful dogs. They are obedient and alert dogs. These little dogs are aggressive watchdogs and they will alarm their their owners when they feel it is necessary. These dogs are not hard to train. Owners must be consistent in training their dogs. They are particularly good at agility competitions. They like to play games and they can catch frisbees. These dogs can be trained easily and they are fast learners. Japanese Spitz are joyful dogs and they will be good with children They will do well with other dogs and pets in the homes of their owners. Owners must give them obedience training. This is the only way you can make these dogs behave properly. Owners must be their pack leaders. Make sure that when walking these dogs, they must heel on their owner's sides and back. If owners are their pack leaders, these dogs will not display bad behavior. Japanese Spitz are dogs that must be given daily mental and physical exercises. These dogs must be taken for long walks because these dogs do pack a lot of energy.

 Japanese Spitz dogs will reach heights of 12 – 15 inches and will weigh as much as 11 – 20 pounds.

Japanese Spitz dogs can acquire sicknesses like hip dysplasia and PRA ( Progressive Retinal Atrophy ).

Japanese Spitz dogs will do alright living in apartment. This is as long as they are given their daily exercises and allowed to go for daily long walks with their owners.

Japanese Spitz dogs will live for about 12 years

Japanese Spitz dogs must be combed and brushed on a consistent basis. These dogs are very clean. They must take their baths only when it is necessary. When these dogs are shedding, use a comb that has a double row of metal teeth so that the loose hairs can be taken out.
